Victorian Cemetery records

For the period 1836 to 1853, church registers detail baptisms, burials and marriages.

From 1 July 1853, all Victorian births, deaths and marriages required registration. Official records are held at the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

VicHeritage Family History allows searching of family history records on the Internet for a fee. The Historical Index database indexes records births from 1836 to 1924, marriages from 1836 to 1939 and deaths from 1836 to 1985. The Family Group database provides information about couples who married or began having children in Victoria between 1853 and 1860.
