Gazettes provide the official record of announcements and decisions made by Governments.

In the first few years of the colony, gazette notices were published in the South Australian gazette and colonial register, available on microfilm at the State Library or online via Trove.
Gazettes were published separately from 1839 onwards. Hard copies are kept on open access in the Government Publications collection, and also available online.

An index was published annually to 1876; after which it was published half-yearly and is bound with the gazettes.
