Economic and political information on countries is useful for students, people planning to visit a country, business people looking for investment or other business opportunities, and for those with an interest in current affairs. To be useful, country information needs to be up-to-date, and the Library subscribes to a range of directories, yearbooks and other information sources which are published annually or more often, as well as some fulltext online databases.

Library catalogue

Information on a particular country can be found by a subject search in the Library catalogue by the name of the country followed by standard subdivisions such as commerce, economic conditions, foreign relations, politics and government and statistics. For example:

Current directories and yearbooks

The latest copies of a range of directories and yearbooks are held in the Ready Reference collection near the Information Desk. Official country yearbooks are found in the range of call numbers from 950 to 994. Statistical yearbooks of individual countries are found in the range of call numbers from 314 to 319.
