National Mapping Agency. The historic map archive offers online access to the Ordnance Survey maps of Ireland, surveyed between 1829 and 1842. These maps have been acclaimed for their accuracy and are highly regarded by cartographers. Maps can be searched and viewed online but cannot be downloaded or printed. There is an option to purchase maps online with A4 historic maps delivered electronically as PDF files and larger maps posted. $ Currently there is free access to the following series of maps. This site also has an online PDF version of Samuel Lewis Topographical Dictionary of Ireland

his searchable online database of all Landed Estates in Connacht and Munster is maintained by the Moore Institute for Research in the Humanities and Social Studies, National University of Ireland, Galway. This resource offers information about the estates and their owners from 1700s to 1920s and provides extensive sources for further information. It covers more than 4,500 properties and details 2,700 families.

65,000+ entries from 1851 General Alphabetical Index to the Townlands and Towns, Parishes and Baronies of Ireland. Free searches include a list of the placenames in the civil parish, adjoining parishes list, most common surnames 1855 list and a summary of sources for the parish. A fee is required to access the source details plus other site features
