Notable items purchased from the bequest

Notable items purchased using the Andersen bequest include artwork by the accomplished amateur watercolour artist Thomas Wood and a scrapbook maintained by Lady Buxton, wife of Sir Thomas Fowell Buxton, Governor of SA from 1895-1898.

Miss K Lillemor Andersen

Kerstin Lillemor Andersen was a librarian at the Barr Smith Library, University of Adelaide, from 1938 to her retirement in 1979. She passed away in 2006.

In 2007 the State Library received $460,000 from the estate of Miss Andersen. Her generous bequest is used for the purchase of published and unpublished South Australiana.

Her estate also left generous bequests to the Elder Conservatorium of Music, Barr Smith Library, State Theatre Company, Art Gallery of South Australia, Musica Viva and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.
